Kinectiles

KinecTILES is a series of 3D interior panels that are cut from a single sheet of plywood, transforming the material into a flexible, translucent kinetic object. These highly customisable panels are ideal for a diverse range of spaces including restaurants, hotel and office lobbies and residential interior projects both as ceiling and wall cladding and room dividers.

While wood is one of the most popular interior design materials, Zsuzsanna’s approach revolutionises its use. Unlike traditional production methods, where the wood is carved away, the KinecTILES project turns the two-dimensional plywood sheets into a three-dimensional sculptural interior panel. Remarkably lightweight and easily customisable through digital techniques, these panels offer versatility for any design project.

Zsuzsanna has designed and developed her cutting method across various sheet materials, including paper, plywood, metal, leather and felt. Through her process, these materials gain completely new characteristics, such as translucency, flexibility, movement and volume, spatiality, transforming simple geometric patterns into organic, moving sculptures. The technique is not limited to large-scale projects, it can be applied to intricate lampshades, candle holders or table bases.
